SONS OF KEMET HUSTLE (FEAT. KOJEY RADICAL)

Following on from 2018’s Mercury Prize-nominated breakout release Your Queen Is A Reptile, jazz supergroup Sons of Kemet return with their new album Black To The Future, out 14th May. To give us a peek of what's to come, they've released the new single 'Hustle (feat. Kojey Radical)'. A beefy bass drone opens the tune, accompanied by dancey tom rolls and clacky percussion. East London rapper Kojey Radical's vocals act as another percussion instrument to start with, then develop into a vibrant combination of rap and melodic singing. Lianne La Havas' also lends her tender vocals to soften up the track. In the accompanying video for 'Hustle', "two dancers represent the duality present within any struggle to transcend internal limitations - until differing elements of the self are reconciled and act in unison". Watch and listen to 'Hustle' here. -Ellie Rose-Davies
